There are songs that come to you over a year or so, and then there are those that just jump into your head. Welcome Home is a song that resulted from emotion, and was thus written in the course of an hour or so.
Recording engineer Brandon Lata was out working in the studio so I was left in the 100 degree black-top-melting-mind-sizzling-heat of Arizona in his studio apartment. My grandfather was pretty sick so I decided to write this song. It's basically and Irish tune with 2 chords and a simple message.
As I was writing it the 2 little Mexican kids from the next apartment came to the door to hear me sing and listened to me for about 15 minutes...they were a good audience.
Anyway, when I listen to Welcome Home I think of my Grandfather and that time in Arizona. |
